SOLIDARITY MARCH AND CANDLE LIGHT VIGIL AT KERALA CENTER

The Indian American Kerala Cultural and Civic Center organized a solidarity meeting and cadle light vigil at the center on Sunday, September 30th. Attended by over 150 participants, the meeting was addressed by several political and religious leaders from the New York aera. A candle light vigil was organized at the end of the program to pay tributes to the victims. The program was coordinated by Kerala Center Vice President Luke Malika. Photos:

KERALA CENTER INVITES AWARDS NOMINATIONS ( 2001 )

The Indian American Kerala Cultural and Civic Center (www.keralacenter.net) is inviting nominations from persons of Kerala origin to be consitered forits Annual Awards 2001. The award categories are: philanthropy, basic sceince, applied sceince, social scicnce, arts and letters, fine arts,performing arts, education, engineering, coporate management, medicine and health services, nursing, journalism and mass communication, and community service. A youth award will honor a 2001 high school graduate. The awardess will be honored at Kerala Center's annual banquet on Saturday, November 17th 2001. The nomination should include a biodata and press cuttings of any achivement or previous awards. Youth award nominee should send in SAT scores and a detailed biodata of extracurricular activities. All nominations should be sent to Kerala Center Awards Committee, 1824 Fairfax St., Elmont, NY 11003 by October 22nd 2001. It may also sent by e-mail to tombcc@aol.com. The Kerala Center, located at Elmont (Long Island, New York) serves the Keralites and the Indian American community in the tri-state New York area. It was inaugurated in 1993. GENERAL BODY MEETING AND ELECTION 2001

General Body Meeting of the Kerala Center and the election for the new executive committe and the retiring Board members will be held Sunday, October 28, 2001 at 4.00 PM at Kerala Center. All Kerala Center members are requested to come for the meeting and the Election.
